Trim problem......need professional input
I'm having trouble with my trim "up" only working intermittently.Once it is not raising the motor,I can tap on the trim junction box and it starts to work again.I've looked everything over and didnt notice anything loose or out of place.Any ideas of what may be happening or is the trim box wiring going bad?It doesnt happen all the time but enough that I have to do something about it.
Note: I never have any trouble with trimming "down",it has never acted up,not once.
Motor is E200STLENS

Sounds like you have a trim relay going bad. Switch the up relay with the down relay and if you have a problem going down then you need a new relay. I think a new relay is around $14 that would be a cheap fix. Hope you do not have the problem I had. My trim would act up and my problem was where the trim wires hook into the power distribution panel. The male end of the plug was broke loose and I had to get a new panel. If my memory is correct a new power distribution panel set me back around $250-$300 installed but your problem sounds more like a relay since it only happens in the up mode. My problem was up and down some times it would work some times it would not do anything because of the bad connection in the panel. Try changing the relays it is not uncommon for them to go bad.

After re reading your post I see you asked for professional input...well I am just a backyard mechanic but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn express last night http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif One of the Evinrude gurus will be along to help you out ...I bet they have you to check the relays http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

Mine did the same thing, except it wouldnt move up at all. THe motor would turn, but only go down. Turned out it was a valve inside the unit stuck. Took just the trim motor to a mechanic, and it turned out to be $20 to fix it, since he didnt have to remove the motor from the boat.
But I would check your relay first.

Yep, swap the relays around and see if it follows.
