206 Shoot thru the hull transducer?
Is there a best location for installation?
My 206 transducer is mounted on the outside because the previous owner said that it would lose bottom when running. I'm not sure where he had it mounted in the hull
I had mine professionally mounted in the hull on the pad, I believe. Works fine with no problems even when running WOT. Sidescan must be mounted outside on the transom.
It needs to be in the pad area, farther back the better. If you can access easily, I would look to see where the factory mounted the original transducers. My 202 had an area in the sump where you could feel that it got thinner.
Thanks
Have the SI on the jack plate. Just looking for depth while on plane.
I am presently waiting for a 200/83 puck that I will be installing in my 190 to be used with my 998.. I have a sump area that is about a 1/2 inch lower in the very back of the bilge pump area. I had a puck that was already installed in this lower sump area so I just remove the old puck and the residue under it. You should have the same area. I am told that champion designed this area especially for transducer installation.
Thanks Jimthefisherman I just got done with the installation on mine. You are correct on mine just left of center in the upper third of the bilge area on this 2003 206 was an area that was just a little lowerAttachment 65051. There was signs of a transducer once being installed there. I got the area cleaned up and epoxied the new puck downAttachment 65052Attachment 65053 Please excuse the bloob of epoxy that came out at the end. Not real good standing on my head and working! Off to the lake!
