how to jump start a 1976 johnson 55 Sea horse
I have a 1976 johnson 55 sea horse with no controls. I want to find out if it runs. Is there a way to jump start the motor without a key? Can I use a car battery and jump the starter motor. Does the Red Plug have to be plugged into a control unit in order to be able to try to start it?
thanks for your help

Yep, hook the + post to the solenoid and the ground to the block use a remote start switch and give it a whirl. Remember you'll need fuel too.

Any Normally open switch that can handle the cranking amps of the starter, hooked as Fred said! Go straight from the battery to the solenoid, with the remote it should spin over. And remember the fuel needs to be mixed at 50-1
