1997 Johnson Faststrike Specs
Hey Guy's I bought a repo Javelin 1997 379 with a 150 Johnson Faststrike on it to use till I can pickup my new boat in June. What rpm range should I be looking at on the top end of this motor and what water pressure should I be running at idle and at top? Thanks for the help !!!!!!
Re: 1997 Johnson Faststrike Specs (XBoater)
I would turn her 5500, water pressure at wide open, no less than 15 PSI.

I've got the same motor....I was told to prop mine to run at about 5800rpm in the cool weather,so you don't lose too much in the heat....I turn about 5500 in the summer http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
Re: 1997 Johnson Faststrike Specs (RUSTY63)
Rusty, I have this exact motor and my Tach reading with the 150 Faststrike on a TR18 Triton max's out at about 4700 rpm. The Prop is 14.5x24. I think I should surely be getting to 5500 rpm. Could I have a problem with the motor or do you think that's too big a prop to get me to 5500 rpms?

Have your tach and your motor checked, you may have to drop to a 22 Raker or a 23 gade.

Thank you Rusty. I will have it worked on as soon as the snow has gone. I am guessing the previous owner never decarbed or anything.

Re: 1997 Johnson Faststrike Specs (RUSTY63)
I was told by a few different mechanics that my 150 intruder should run at 5800 rpm . May want to see how far the prop is under the pad and raise it up some . I had to raise mine and it realy helped out . Got my rpm back up and it tops out at around 62-63mph in the summer and 65 in the spring and fall . :)
Re: 1997 Johnson Faststrike Specs (Midwest Sportsman)
You can turn a 60 degree Eagle motor any RPM you want, 5800 would be..IMHO...the max, I have seen them turn as high as 7200 but, the crankshaft dont like that much.
