MOTOR BLEW TODAY

Driving down the lake this morning everythings fine got gas got oil motor started and is running fine cruising about 4000 rpm's /48 mph and all of a sudden Tap,Tap,Tap so i let off the gas come off plane Tap,Tap "Stall" no more motor ...No Alarms No buzzers No Nothing motor won't even turn over now..Took all the plugs out and looked into the cylinders and all of them are clean and good except the bottom drivers side looks like some metal in it. What gives I thought This view system was suppost to keep the motor safe how could this happen....And best of all Motor is OUT OF WARRANTY!!!!!! Now what the hell do i do............Please somebody help or come steel my boat....chris 2001 225 rude ram.

The View system has nothing to do with the motor except to View some functions.

model #E223FHLSIF serial #G04962178 i just had work done to the motor about 2 weeks ago a recall on the fuel injection bolts think this had anything to do with it...thanks john i appreciate the looking into it ....chris

Did you have any injector bolts break?

Doesn't look that way Everything looks fine ..

Did any break before you went in to have them replaced?

No everything was fine i got a letter in the mail saying to have the motor serviced for saftey recall involving fuel injector fasteners could loosen and break causing potential fire

The only thing different lately was i was experiecing this little pinging noise upon take off the few last trips out and my dealer advised me to de carbon the motor which i did and the motor ran great noise was gone everything was fine i even took the boat out on 3 separate trips before today, i don't know what do you think?

If none were broke when you took it in I doubt changing them had any thing to do with your motor problems.

At this point you will need to have it checked out to see if a cause can be found.

Let me check the history...be right back.

Its going in tomorrow morning just so they can check it out hook it up to the computer visually inspect it see if they can make anything of it...

Bummer... sorry to hear about your motor. I worry about that myself having bought a used 99 Ficht motor.

i used to worry to because as much as i like the evinrude motor there just not that reliable my buddys 225 ho just blew on him and my other buddy's 150 rude blew a cylinder on him last summer with no warning after it blew the buzzer went off...So i hate to say it but i'm not surprised

The history shows nothing that would cause this problem, its only had one other claim on it for a power head gasket back on 8-28-03.

Most likely the dealer will find no codes, I would bet on a injector or EMM (computer) failure, A EMM failure will not be easy to detect unless the tech knows his stuff, the warranty history shows no EMM upgrade from the OMC EMM which it came with.

What....exactly... are your buddy's motors?

We may be able to explain why they had problems.

Its not the point what i was getting at is in my fishing club we have mer's yammie and 3 rudes and guess what no one has any problems but us rudes mine is down now my other buddies 225 ho blew last summer and my other buddys 150 dropped a cylinder on him just like mine did today without notice..so as for motors the odds were against me...
