2006 225hp Mercury Pro XS rough idle
Hi everyone. Since the start of this season I have noticed my outboard is missing when in gear at idle speed <700rpm and it sometimes stalls when putting into or taking out of gear. The motor performs perfect at mid and top range rpms. I've done some research on past posts but just wanted to get a little more input. Since the idleing issues I've changed to new spark plugs, gapped at 0.40", fresh 89 octane fuel, used quickleen for the last 2 tanks of gas, drained fuel from fuel filter reservior and inspected fuel filter. The filter looked good (i.e. no particles on surface of and no water separated from the collected gas upon sitting for several hours. Motor has 280 hours and it's been taken well care of. I've read that this could be caused by a bad tracker valve (or tear in the membrane). Question is: To remove the tracker valve do you simply just relieve the fuel pressure on the starboard fuel rail via shrader valve and take the tracker valve out? If anything I just want to inspect it. Also, any other ideas?
