2000 225 Yamaha VMax idles rough

My 2000 225 Vmax likes to idle rough when I start it. It doesn't matter if its warmed up or not. Runs great at WOT. It starts fine and then will die if I do not give it some gas with the hot foot. Not sure if it is related but It smokes really bad. I run good fresh gas and add Ring free at 1oz per 10 gal. Not sure if its spark plugs, ring free, idle setting. A little help would be great.

If you haven't put fuel pump kits in before I would start there. They are cheap and easy to do your self. Mine (2001) was doing this a couples years ago. Put in fuel pump kits in and fixed.

Start at the Spark plugs then go to the next step........which is then Low pressure fuel pumps, VST, injectors.......
