200 vmax hpdi trouble.

Lets see if anyone has any ideas on this? I have a 2009 200 hpdi vmax. I bought the engine brand new on my stratos 294. I only have 31 hours on the motor. Earlier this spring, during a fishing trip, I had ran the boat all day fishing with no problems having started it several times during the day. Then before moving to another spot I got behind the wheel turned the key and nothing. The engine stried to crank but never started. Almost like it was flooded. Tried to start it for close to any hour until I had some one begin to tow me back. While being towed I continued to try to start it and nothing. Engine would crank but it wouldn't start. Then I pushed the throttle to the floor, turned the engine and it puttered until it started. I was able to run all the way back to the dock and load it on the trailer. Once on the trailer I tried to start it and it fired up like nothing was wrong. I was able to fish all spring and summer, then this past sunday the same thing happened again. I took the boat to the dealer and he cannot recreate the problem so he can't figure the diagnosis. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Check your kill switch...

Clip is always in the kill switch. If there is a short in the kill switch then that may possible

I have the same motor and I had something similar happen to me when I was at the lake a couple weeks ago. I turned the key and nothing was happening. I was thinking battery? I tried turning a few more times and messing with some things and I finally realized it was in gear http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/embarassed.gif . When I put it in Neutral it began to turn over but wouldn't fire so I figured it was flooded. Let it sit for 10 minutes and it fired first turn of the key and not a problem since. Seems they flood pretty easily.

You may have pushed the key in without realizing you did it. I have done it before.
