I was having an issue which was causing my fuel bulb to stay collapsed when switched to my reserve tank. I took the check valve off the reserve tank and it appears this is the issue. The ball does not open easily thus not allowing fuel thru. My understanding is this check valve is for safety in case the boat flips.
My concern is that a faulty check valve can starve the motor for fuel.
Has anyone had experience with removing the check valve. Did it cause any issues?
The check valve is not a Yamaha part, it is probably a Ranger thing. You might have better luck in the Ranger forum.
I have removed the check valve from every boat that I have had that had one. I figured that I have a lot more problems then a little leaking fuel if I flip the boat. Not sure if that is the reason it is there.
Actually transitioned to a Legend a couple of years ago.
My main tank does not have a check valve so I'll be removing the ball tonight.

I had fuel problems on my Stratos a while back, and after a few trips to the shop, it was finally diagnosed to the check valve being stuck...they removed the check valve and installed a 3/8 nipple and problem solved.
