Hey guys, take a look at the hole where I am pointing the screwdriver...oil leaks from there.
What causes this?

i dont think oil should be leaking from there. I think that is a water passage or at least that is what comes out of mine when I tilt it up and down to drain the water out of the lower unit.
You might have this figured out by now but I went out and looked at an empty gear case that I have. I poked a small wire tie in that hole and it comes out under the water pump plate. So I would say the only thing that can be leaking there is the drive shaft seals that are right under that plate.

Thanks, that was exactly it! Also, once the lower was in the garage, it was apparent the oil was Yamalube! My reservoir must be leaking....not that it was using much oil...
