2006 200hp vmax wont start???
I just bought this motor today and I cant seem to get the starter to work. What I have noticed is that the trim wont work anymore and the MPH gage will not work either. This all happened when I tried the starter. All I get is a constant alarm and it seems the relays are buzzing. Could the starter be bad or shorted??? I am sure the alarm is fron the low oil which I will fill tomorrow when the dealer is open.

Double check that your kill switch is hooked up.

Is it turning over or do you just hear a click from the starter?

No nothing I just dropped it off at the dealer. I think something is hooked up wrong or shorted out so I will see tomorrow

I'd start with battery connections perhaps it's not got enough juice to turn the engine over. It could also be a short somewhere or even a bad relay... perhaps even a bad connection at the battery terminal.

I have plenty of power I do think a relay went out. The gages will light up with a constant alarm and when I turn the key all goes dead and when I try to fill the motor oil tank with the emergency switch eveything goes dead. The relays on the motor are making noise so it could be one of them or the selonoid shorted out. I will find out tomorrow after the shop tec looks it over. He thinks I might have a plug wrong when I rigged it.

Got the answer $210 later. The shop said my battrery connections were snug but not tight enough and the positive cable was loose on the motor. They did find a mouse nest in the lower unit when they looked it all over and started it up.
