Re: bent shaft? (haftafish22)
600-700 bucks appr, but you can have it straightened for bout half that, make sure you change both prop shaft seals and also the rear carrier bearing either way
Re: bent shaft? (toledo freak)
You can get a prop shaft for under $300 online but not sure of seals and shims that may be required. The link below shows a price for a VZ225 and yours may a different price. Hope this helps.

Re: bent shaft? (haftafish22)
shaft itself cost about 250-300 the rest is seals and carrier bearing and couple hrs labor for someone reputable to do the work, no shimming required for shaft change
Re: bent shaft? (haftafish22)
See if a boat shop around there has one of these. I had mine straightened - it was bent pretty bad, and have had absolutely no problems. Cost to get it done was very reasonable, and took about 30 minutes.

Re: bent shaft? (haftafish22)
it might break tomorrow, but mine got bent about 3 or 4 years ago and i decided that i would try to fix it myself and did. i took a piece of strong square tubing and bent it back straight to within .03". i used a dial indicator first to determine the "high spot" and then proceded to straighten the shaft a little at a time. i finally had to stand on the square tubing to get it straight. those suckers are strong. been running fine ever since.
Re: bent shaft? (haftafish22)
If the dealer says the shaft is bent, then have them give an estimate on the repair.
$700-800 sounds about right and is a lot better than a new lower unit when it damages everything from running bent.
