I want to install a water / fuel seperator on my 02 VMAX 150. I've seen several Yamaho dealer wants 69.99, says only his will work, but Academy and wallmart has filters in the 39.00 range. I would think any seperator should work or am I wrong?

You need a 10 micron filter, made / sold by anybody as long as it is 10 micron.
Also check what GPH rating it has... i believe you need 60 to ensure there's no fuel restriction.
thanks guys~~thats a start, on a mission first thing in the morning, anything else I need to know? My old Optimax ran great as long as I ran Merc. Quicklean~stabil blue and Opti-oil.
Opti's have a small water seperator on board but Yami's don't so you need to add one. You're doing the right thing. I have a Racor model on my boat and when you purchase extra filters they come with the o-rings too. Filters are about $25 and i think it cost me about 80 or so to install it. Cheap insurance really.
