My fishin' buddy knocked a couple of chips out of my cowling today - have searched the board and found a couple of posts but from 2004=2005...wondering if anyone knows if Yamaha is now making some touch up paint for 2008 HPDI's (the dark blue). Thanks for your help!
Hey Ya'll - was able to answer my own question on the Color Rite site....they now make the primer, base coat, paint and clear coat all in little jars so you can "try" and do the job right......will give it a shot.
I have an idea. Why not take a before and after picture. Maybe if it turns out as good as you hoped, you will have some pointers for those who want to try.
Good idea, Buzz......I'll do it! Even if it turns out to be a piece of &*%, at least I can warn others. Look for it in the next week or so....I'm ordering the paint, primer, base coat and clear tonite.
I have the same problem, what is color rite and where do i find it?
My paint, etc., came in the other day but haven't had a chance to get started on the project yet. Google Color Rite and you'll find the site for the touch up paint....click on "Marine" and what you need will come up. Even tho I have just a few minor nicks, I opted to go with the recommendation of Color Rite and got the primer, base coat, top coat and clear. Went to hobby store yesterday and got several very very small brushes to start the work. Going to try and take some before and after pics even if it doesn't work out right and will try to post them here when complete (may need some help with that).....

Absolutely terrible - I was very careful applying all the coats/colors/etc. and it just looked like crap.....long story short, I took it to the guy who paints my bikes and he painted the whole top portion of the cowling....looks new again.

I agree. Same problem here. Back seaters should be restricted to senko's only.
