Boat stalls when putting it into gear
In the past 6 months when I put the boat into gear, whether forward or reverse, about 20% of the time it will stall and I need to restart. I changed the plugs last week and it is still doing it so I am thinking it may be idling low. The boat will idle fine when in neutral or in gear but I am not sure of the RPMs as the gauge is not that granular. I am trying to avoid trailering it a far distance for service.
Thoughts?
Thanks,

So, what are you asking? You should be able to find the idle RPM's in your manual, and if you don't have one you can use the link posted at the top to download one. Without a tach, you're pretty much just guessing.

It would also be good to know what motor you are talking about.

Whoops, keep forgetting that most would not know what the ZX225 came with. It is a 2004 225 HPDI. Manufactured in 2003.
Re: Boat stalls when putting it into gear (frogbite)
The motor should idle about 700 and about 550 in gear. I think but not 100% the motor may have an o2 sensor. Not sure just when they stopped that on the HPDI's I think 2003?
You may what to start changing your filters. Start with the one you should have in the boat and work your way out. It should be 4 before the High pressure pump. If that does not take care of the problem then you need to have the low pressure fuel pumps checked.
There are a lot of us that has not idea on what motor is on what boat.
