Re: LU question (mikkeeh)
It's time to get it resealed. It's not worth taking a chance . There are components that will rust in the gearcase. Rust causes pitting. Pitting causes bearing failure, gear failure, and overheating of the case. Have them put a new water pump in it while its down.
Re: LU question (mikkeeh)
What lube did you use this time?
If there is water in the lube it will be the first thing to run out when the lower drain screw is removed.
If you use Lubrimatic it will look milky after you run it, change to BRP Ultra HPF-XR and run it again, then check the lube. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: LU question (RUSTY63)
BRP Ultra....Im not a Lubrimatic fan.
Re: LU question (mikkeeh)
If your using ultra and it's off color, get it sealed. The only exception would be if you just ran it hard and checked it right there on the ramp. Even then , the air bubbles are few, the color stays the same. It's good stuff.
Re: LU question (mikkeeh)
Let it sit over night before you check it, as Rusty says, the water will run out first. If you do not actually see water, keep checking it. Maybe you could get a tech just to pressure/ vacuum test it if you took it to them with no lube in it. I do this with my customers some times, it's easier on me, a peace of mind for them. Being a 2001, it's gotta be getting close to a reseal job, waterpump too if you do not know when it was done last.
