Low water pressure 07' 200 HPDI
Fished a tournament on the Winter Haven Chain this past spring all the canals were about a foot or less and lots of sand. Since then the water psi has been lower than normal. Since it has gotten warmer it has dropped even more.
The psi hits 10-11psi at 4000 and up any lower RPMs it sits at 7 or so and at idle 2 psi only when I start the motor, once it has warmed up it sits at 0 it barely pisses unless I give it some gas when I was sure last year and also early this year it would piss like it drank 18 beers before breaking the seal. Note that it is hotter than hell in FL and the water temp has been 86-92 degrees.
Now last Sunday I changed out the entire water pump set up: impellor, gaskets, housing, bolts, the pins, key that holds the impellor in place everything! I also checked the t-stats and the poppit valve. I only wiped the poppit spring and the mushroom head and cleaned it out as best as I could since it is in a tight spot and stretched it out some. I checked the gauge and it works fine. Removed the tube from behind the gauge and it squirted some snotty stuff out and HOT water on my leg when I ran down the lake, but was clean after that. I also took off the head cover to expose the brass nipple that goes on top of the head and reved the motor and water shot 2-3 foot in the air. Still reading lower than I like pressure. 11 psi max WOT and 7 psi while running at or below 4000 rpm and after it has ran for a while it is at 1 or less psi at idle and a light stream coming from the pisser.
Any suggestions? Should I run water through the flush out hose with the poppit valve removed and opened? Should I replace T-stats, they looked fine just a little tiny bit of rust in the housing. Never ever seen salt water. Could it just be the warmer lake water temps? And I have not had a hot horn at all. I just want my psi back to normal. Let me know.

i have a 07 225 water temp 92 in ky . pressure is the same .hot water will cause it to read low.
Re: Low water pressure 07' 200 HPDI (kymike)
Do you mean the psi is the same as being lower than normal? I just took out the poppit spring and a stretched it a little more again to see if it runs a little higher psi wise. I hate taking that poppit valve apart http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif my knuckles are once again all busted up.
Re: Low water pressure 07' 200 HPDI (j5jeffw)
mine is doing the same thing 06,200 hpdi at idle water pressure is 0 and about 12 or 13 wot but water temp is 90 to 92 didnt know if this is the reason or not it work good back in the spring water pressure around 20 to 22 at wot. Also lossed about 300 rpm and 3mph could this be from the heat to its been in the mid to uper 90s with very high humidity for past 2 mouths could this be our problem. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sweating.gif

99% of low psi on HPDI's are from the heat.Once you have checked out everything and you are getting no alarms, then you can blame it on the heat. stretching the spring does little to no good as it will go back to its normal size once you put it back together. As soon as the water cools you should see 20 + psi again.

Thanks alot for the reply; Hopeful it will start cooling off little bit and every thing goes back to good and the fish strats bitting again right now its hard to even get a bit around here. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif

It has been fixed!!! 18-22 psi is back!!! I did what I did not want to do again: Is take off the poppit valve and spring since it is a PITA to even take off - let alone put back on.
What I did was first remove the hose from the brass nipple on top of the head and ran water into that hose to see if it is clogged and double check the gauge and it was fine. Then I hooked up the flush out hose and ran water through that and started the motor, water shot 2-3 feet in the air from the brass nipple. I reconnected it and then proceeded to remove all of the black covers on the back of the motor to get to the poppit and after the battle of getting the valve open I took the spring and stretched the hell out of it, I cleaned the mushroom head off really good and ran water through it again with the poppit off but not with running the motor of course since all the plug wires and wire harness were removed and waited for the water to start flowing out and I saw little tiny fragments of sand and grit come out. I stopped the water after 5 minutes or so and wiped the area clean with a towel (the hole where the spring goes back in) and put it back together. I ran the boat again in the water and when I was backing it off the trailer I noticed it was pissin like a champ and when I got on plane psi was reading 20 psi and the lake water temp was 88.9.
Just thought I would let you know. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
