1998 Ficht 150 Fast Strike, RPMs, gearcase?
I've got a 99 Ranger R83 with above said motor, took it to tech to have engine checked out before I went on a trip to KY Lake. Tech said motor had been run in above 5050 rpms 0% of operating time (205hrs). I personally topped her out 2 years ago @ 64.7 gps, with myself, half tank of fuel. Last fall I topped her out with my partner, full tank, @59mph. Guys in the setup forum tell me thats impossible with the prop slip calc. What exactly does 0% mean on the outboards memory? This past weekend I topped out 54@ 5100 rpms.trimmed almost all the way up, with two guys, 3/4tank, and 20+mph headwind/crosswind. My prop is a 23" Renegade with a couple of small nicks and stuff. What gearcase am I running? I could apparently use some more rpms!!?? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif

If you do not maintain the rpm for a specified amount of time, It will not register as being run there. It has to run at that speed long enough to set a percentage. You need to be getting the 5300-5500 range on the motor to get the performance, you may need some prop work. Does your motor actually say fast strike on it? what is the model # of the engine.

Yes it does say FastStrike, model #j150ilecr. Whats my gearcase? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif Yeah, I think I need some prop work as well. Thanks in advance for your help.

The ILEC models were equipped with the "4-hole" gearcase. It gets its name from the 4 water intake holes (with internal screens) on each side of the gearcase. Its pretty much a stock gearcase and works well even with the engine height raised somewhat. In higher transom mounting heights, its a good idea to install a water collector kit (or scoops), but I don't think they're available anymore. P/N for this kit was 398185. I have them installed on my '01 Ficht & I typically see 18-20 psi of water pressure at WOT w/full trim.
