2005 250 HPDI Vmax Temp Question
Was running this weekend, new Z21 to me. I'm still having problems remembering jack plate trim and engine tilt and trim. Well long story made short, wrong trim and engine was not getting enough water, temp alarm goes off. I come off plane, not knowing what is going on, turn engine off. I then realize what I did, lower jack plate, start engine, temp starts to go right down. Alarm clears. Ran back to launch, no other issues.
My question is: any chance I did any damage to the engine? I know this may sound stupid, but I love this boat! Temp gauge was about 3/4, not pegged.
Thanks to all that reply.

As long as you shut if off when you first heard the alarm, you didn't do any harm. You do have a water pressure gage don't you? If not you need one and watch that gage when you are trimming up the engine and raising the jack plate.

The worst you could have done was destroy a water pump but sounds like that is ok. I have over heated mine a lot and have had no ill effects!!
+ 1 on the water pressure gauge. Watch that more so then the engine temp.
