Re: 1997 VMAX TRP ? (Mossback)
Use to have one. ItÂs a very strong 150 but did have some issues with water coming into the gear case. After several trips to the shop, Yamaha replaced the LU but even the new one was taking on water. After a while, swapped to a regular gear case and ran a 27p prop in the mid 60Âs on zx185c. IMO, regular LU is much better suited for this motor.

I have the TRP on a 200 VMAX Phase II. I really like the TRP set-up. I have not had any of the water issues previously mentioned (going on my 4th season with this motor).
The 1997/98's were some VERY stout "150's" http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

I guess my 98 150 TRP was a good one, had it on a zx185 uper 60's and 70 mph was common in the spring.
Came out of the hole right now, no matter how fat the guy in the other seat was.
was expensive to fix when I hit hard objects......which i did at least once a year! Dont let just anybody work on the props either, one guy totally screwed them up and I lost about 6 MPH. Croxton fixed them though, I guess he worked for them when they made them originally.
