Try moving the pole setting switch on the back of the Tach around a little...Just make sure to set it back to it's original position...Sometimes a little corrosion on that switch makes then read erratic...

Turn the pole switch back and forth several times and you should be good to go.
A film develops on the contacs after time and doing this cleans it up and fixes the problem http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

NO just turn back and forth
how do you determine which number the setting need to be at?
its hard to see. is this the place that needs to be worked around to loosen it up?
Bottom right is the slotted pin adjust plug. Make note of your current setting then just turn it back and forth about 6 times and put it back on the setting it was on before you messed with it.

that would be 12 pole....6P setting. i think.
Oh so you can adjust tachs? My dealer never thought of that before he ordered a new one to fix mine that never worked correctly from the day I bought it new 5 years ago. Needless to say neither did I.
Yes they have setting depending on # of cylinders and brand motor. Perhaps you had a different problem?
that did the trick for mine. fixed her right up. thanks for the info.
It may be the voltage regulator, that was the problem on my "01" 225 OX66 http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
