I just got my 200 hpdi back from my Yamaha dealer, I had them install a phase II kit. I was running 5500 rpms at 54 mph with a good hole shot. After the kit I am at 42 mph, terrrible hole shot and I lost about 800 rpms. They checked the compression after the install and told me I gained 15 to 25 pounds per cyclinder. Has anyone else had this happen with their phase kits? what could be the problem?? I will talk to the guys at Hydro tec tomorrow too but was hoping for some your insite.
i took mine out to hydro tec the same thing happened to it so the next day the boys from hydro tec took it to the lake and after some running and testing john figured it out it had a little piece of ground steel and i mean little about the size of a single grain of sand in one of the carbs i could not believe that was costing me about 600 rpms
Well they figured out the problem, they had a coil wire that came loss so I was only running on 5 cylinders. Talked to the Jon at Hydro Tec and he got a chuckle by the way they have been great guys to deal with. I will put the boat in the water this weekend and see what see can do.
we have a 225 / 2005 model ,,,,,,what is this phase 2 kit that you speak of? Is this something that we may need as well? We just bought the boat and our dealer has mentioned nothing to us about this upgrade?

A phase II kit is an aftermarket modification kit from Hydro Tec Marine. It consisted of new heads, carbine fiber reeds, and a high performance tuner, I opted not to install the solid motor mounts which was advised by Hydro Tec since I run my Yami on a deep V walleye boat. Hydro Tec has been awesome and the guys on this board are full of information to get the most out of your Yami. This kit made my Yami come to life but I'm already considering uping it to the Phase III kit. Check out Hydro Tec site and give them a call if you want more power and performance than the guy sitting next to you at the dock.
