Need Help with Yamaha 15hp
Hello,
I am working on a Yamaha 15 mshx engine. I have put a new carb kit in and I'm not real sure how many turns the idle screw should be turned out. The engine starts but has a hard time idling and choke has to be pulled in and out to keep it running. Motor has set for a while and just trying to get it running again.
Thanks in advance

I dont know the number of turns out and really dont care because different altitudes it will be different. With it idling start backing the mixture screw out to richen it up,and thats what it needs otherwise you wouldn't have to choke it to keep it going.Once you get it backed out to the smothest idle just give it about 1/8 turn more, and be sure your hooked up to muffs with good flow of water.Take it to the lake and run it and see how it does.If is cold natured or hesitates, back the screw out a little at a time till it runs correctly. It will usually run a LITTLE different when in the lakes as opposed to on muffs(Exhaust will be under water and it does make a small difference in the mixture) You may want to idle it up or down also.Hope this helps.
