Thrust Washer is driving me crazy...
Hey Guys, I have tried and tried to get this darn thrust washer off my 2002 250 Vmax OX66... I have tapped it with a hammer, hit it with a hammer, tried to pry it off (Carefully)... Soaked it with PB Blaster and I just can't get it off of there... I got some fishing line behind it last fall, and think I got it all out, but would like to get this washer so it comes off and on...
I want to try some different props too, and need to be able to get this washer off to do that right?
I have not tried heat, because I don't want to burn up the seals or anything...
Any ideas? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif

The best thing I have found is to use a prybar under one side to pry against the gear case and then smack the other side of the washer on the face...It takes a good smack or two to get it to release, but it will come off that way...Use a cloth under the prybar, or it will scratch the paint...

I went to Sears Hardware and got a generic puller with two adjustable arms. It cost all of $9. It gets mine right off.

Had the same problem on my 200 HPDI. I got a small 2 arm puller, but had to make new arms that were longer. Had it off in 2 min. with no beatin and bangin. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif
