Re: Lots of carbon (craigs06)
Same here Craig. Mine are so black and oily I didn't even fog my cylinders when I winterized it.
In the spring I'm going to shock it with the seafoam then throw in a new set of plugs.
Re: Lots of carbon (craigs06)
OH, NICE! Thanks alot Craig, now I'm curious and will have to look into my cylinders! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
I foul plugs regularly and now I'm afraid of what I'll find. I use seafoam and Yamalube also. Sounds like a "shock" treatment will be upcoming soon. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif
Re: Lots of carbon (headhigh)
I checked my oil linage setting from the stop, it was a long way from the stop. I reset mine to about .020, manual says .040, update cals for about .012. Hope it helps with the smoke and carbon.
Re: Lots of carbon (craigs06)
ringfree is a great product to try
Re: Lots of carbon (craigs06)
Well, I ran the seafoam shock treatment this weekend at the house. Had all the neighbors bitchin' about the smoke. The motor hadn't been running smooth lately and this seemed to help after the third run. I'm letting the motor sit all week before I take her to the river and blow it out. I hope that seafoam won't hurt anything sitting in there all week. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif
Re: Lots of carbon (headhigh)
The seafoam won't harm anything. I've recently switched to Bomb XD/50 oil in my engines as I think the Yam oil has been the reason for my fast fouling. I've also been using Ring-Free which has helped.
Without ring-free and Yam oil I was getting about 50 hours from my plugs (300 HPDI's). With ring-free and XD/50 I'm up around 100 hours.
