want crank good 2001 yamaha 225 ox66
motor runs great. but now starts fine at the ramp and runs good for 5 miles or so then stop and fish an hour. hard to start tries to crank and dies . then finally after a couple of times it will crank. Can anyone help. put new plugs in idles better. still has problems cranking. turns 5800 rpm 73 mph . i use ring free everytime i put gas in it.

Wish someone would reply to this I also have the same problem on a 200 200ox66.New plugs new o2 sensor power head rebuilt last year great compression.I have seen three posts about this WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif

I was wondering the same thing. Do you know if your gas has ethanol in it?

Are you holding pressure in your fuel line bulb?
Does it crank easier if you pump it after you run.
Start with the simple things.

Just had a 225 V-Max do this. It was caused by two things. The O2 sensor had n it. Yes I run ring free I might skip a tank here and there. It was removed and burt off with a torch. Also had two fuel diaphragm leaking. Hope this helps.

Change the lift pumps. You can rebuild the pumps as well, but the entire pump only runs about $40 each new.
