I've got a 1990 150 proV that kinda does the same thing. I've found that if I stop and fish an area for 30-45 minutes I have to pump the bulb again before I start the motor. It's almost like you're starting up in the morning because the bulb is soft again and needs about 4-5 squeezes. I don't know what causes all the fuel to drain back so quickly but since I started doing this I've had very little problems. And yes, if I forget to do this it will stall pretty quickly and you can smell the unburned fuel kinda like it's flooded. Don't know why? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif Probably got something to due with the diaphram's in the fuel pump but I'm not messing with it as long as this is working for me. I just ain't got a bunch of money to be tossing around to Yamaha mechanics and I ain't never really torn in to an outboard. That's probably the only downfall of owning a Yamaha. They usually run so good you never have to work on them. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
