Power T&T--115 2stroke--2002
When trimming up from all the way down I get a wierd noise from my T&T until it releases from the 2 piston rods...After it clears everything is smooth & quiet until I trim all the way down & start up again. Checked fluid and unit is full...
Any ideas?

Probably the brackets rubbing. Check for paint comming off on the inside. Grease this area and the trim rod ends. See if the noise disapears.

Mike, I greased the brackets last night then worked the trim up & down...Still noisy until it releases from rods...Don't know what to try next..I have a friend with an OX66 and his is a little noisy but nothing like mine...
Thanks

Did it just start this ??? Have you greased all the fittings in the motor/trim?
Common problem that Yamaha doesn't like to admit too. My new unit was quite for the first 6 month then it started doing exactly what you said when the weather cooled off. Now that the temps are much warmer it's better again.
This is what you need to try - find a way to suck 2 oz of fluid out of the trim unit now put in 2 oz of 30 weight non-detergent oil. You may have to use the trim several times before the fluid mixes well and hopefully takes care of the problem.

needs to be greased or need more fluid
