Double Oiling question ???
I was wondering if anyone can help me with the double oiling dilemma on break in. I was told by several that at 10 hours of break in, that the computer will automatically stop the double oiling and have talked to several more that it wont and that it is something mechanical that a tech needs to do to make it stop. Can anyone give me some REAL information on this subject that knows what they are talking about ?? Thank you in advance !

HPDI engines...When you take your boat home from the dealership (The day you buy it). It should be oiling at the normal rate that it always will. It's mechanical linkage that controls the oiling. The computer has nothing to do with controlling the volume. And absolutely do NOT let anyone talk you into putting any oil in your fuel tanks. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif

Give the guys at Reeve's Marine in Bossier a call. Talk with one of the mechanics. They are all Yamaha trained & Authorized mechanics. They will give you the full run-down. They sell a TON of the HPDI engines, and really know what they are doing. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Thanks for the help fella, but i have dealt with REEVES in the past and i'll take my chances on burning that motor up before i get any help or advice from them. I have had my dealings with them in the past and dont trust not a one of them. I'll keep that to myself, but i'll look for more KNOWLEDGEABLE people to ask. Thanks for the help once again !
Re: Double Oiling question ??? (Blazer210ProV)
It's kind of a weird thing with the HPDI's if that's what type motor you have. Only the HPDI has an aux electric oil pump in addition to the mechanical one that all the motors have. The computer does control this aux oil pump and handles the oiling as needed during the first ten hours. That is why they say don't add oil to your fuel tank, you don't need to. The other Yamahas, including the EFI models only have the single mechanical oil pump that has to be adjusted after the initial ten hour break-in. But you didn't really mention what motor you have.
