crazy water pressure gauge
What would cause the water pressure gauge to jump between 20-30psi non stop? It worked fine at first, but then started acting up. At idle it shows 0, but then running she bounces back and forth between 20-30. There was a lot of debrise in the water from heavy rain, so I imagine I sucked something up. I am getting good water pressure...steady flow at idle and running, so I know its not the water pump which is brand new anyway. Has to be the gauge or something stuck somewhere. Thanks!!

Sounds like you need to clean out the poppit valve.... That job sux. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif I'd put the new style one in if you have the older type. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif It is supposed to help not get plugged up.
Re: crazy water pressure gauge (21XDC)
Mike....Thanks...Where is the poppit valve?? That http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif face kinda makes me nervous. Is this thing a nightmare??
Re: crazy water pressure gauge (noahsteere)
Nevermid just saw the post above on poppit vale. Is this hard to do??? Doesn't look that bad. Is there anything I need to be aware of or what i need to look for?
Also, from the posts above the guys that had to clean their poppit valves all had low psi. I have normal water flow, but my needle is flickering back and forth showing high pressure. Do you think it is still the poppit valve??

The hard part for me was getting the gasket and spring lined up to put the two 10MM bolts in.... I fought mine for hours. My lower pan is in the way. I'm not sure if you have more room in your motor.... I hope you do. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
Good Luck Noah. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
