Re: 225 HPDI Hard to Start (duster)
I have a 04 225 hpdi and mine gives me problems when it's cold starting it. Usually I just give it a little gas and it will fire right up. After that it will start fine all day. I haven't had it looked at so i'm not sure if there's a problem or not.
My boat sits all week too. In the summer or warmer months it starts fine. It only gives problems when the air temp gets in the low 50's or colder. Maybe having it sit all week is the cause.
Re: 225 HPDI Hard to Start (duster)
You might look at your plugs they could be fouled with the oil that is being used right now.....New motor and all..
Re: 225 HPDI Hard to Start (sheeterhdip225)
You have no problems with your engine. My 300hpdi does the same thing, and I know of other guys with the same issues with their HPDIs. It used to bother me, but I am now used to it. Other than that, they are great engines!!
Re: 225 HPDI Hard to Start (noahsteere)
I took it out yesterday afternoon, air temp was lower 60s, fired up and stayed running. Seams as though if it is in the 50's or even cooler cranks alot dies, and have to give it throttle to go,,,maybe it needs some warm coffee,,,yamaha approved of course
Re: 225 HPDI Hard to Start (duster)
Check with your dealer, but I think I heard of some models needing an ecu change for better cold starting.
Re: 225 HPDI Hard to Start (duster)
get in the habit of pumping the ball I have a 225 that will always start hard if I don't. gets real bad when it gets cold
Re: 225 HPDI Hard to Start (bigjohn)
mind starts a little slower when it is bslow 50. It will start, die then crank right back up.
