was out today and when i came in I raised the motor and it came up part way and the pump started to make a noise like it striped out, got it home and it will not go up or down, trying to remove unit but cannot get it out , does the motor have to be off the boat to get the t/t unit from between brackets? can't get to the back bolt for the motor without removing tilt/trim assy. from bracket, any ideas please http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif
On the larger (V6) Yamahas, you have to remove the engine, remove the left side bracket, then you can remove the entire unit.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif

I had to replace just the trim pump on my ol 2.6 Yamaha....when I took a look at it, then at the part in my hand, I laughed my azz off then called the dealer....I let them do it while I enjoyed the rest of my week.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
I had to put a motor on my pump assy. It is a pain to get it off but can be done(motor itself). I bought an Arco aftermarket motor, much easier to install due to it's smaller size. A lot cheaper too.
I have a 2000 150 vmax, I took the entire tilt and trim unit off without taking the motor or bracket off, I'm not sure if it is the same as yours though
I tried bleeding the unit last night, it was low but still have same problem, i must have lifted the motor by hand a dozen times , seems like it is full of fluid, but the pump is still making the same noise and not working, anyone got any experiance with t/t units that could contact me and give me a few ideas on what to do next.
what did you hit on the lake???? or did it just start out of the blue?
