HELP. I want to go fishing tomorow, Need some advice.

I am going to replace the impeller and I have the lower unit off, after removing the water punp housing cover there is a metal ring that is slid down over a nylon ring and it is not sliding up the shaft. It needs to be removed to then remove the 2 washers and the spring washer and finally the impeller. I cant for the life of me seem to slide the parts up and I do not want to break it. Any Ideas on the removal of this part. I am sure someone out there has done this before..

what year and model motor is it

I haven't done one, but looking at the manual it looks like a tool is used to tap that collar down tight, so it should be tight coming off too

the manual tells you all about putting it together but nothing about the teardown

2002 200 HPDI it is a VZ200TLRA, Thanks for looking..

You have to pry the metal cap off the nylon bushing piece then they both slide up the shaft separately. Pry the metal off you won't break it http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif . The nylon piece is already split. Remember the wave washer goes in between the two flat washers. Turn the driveshaft clockwise while you're stuffing the impeller back into the housing during reassembly. Use a torque wrench when retightening bolts. Grease the splines on the driveshaft before you shove the lower unit back into the mid section. Good luck.
