e-tec reliability

Hello, I'm about to repower my 26' Pacific. I was dead set on a verado until I started looking into the E-tec's. My only concern would be reliability (as it was with the verado as well) how have the 250's been holding up? It seems as though they've been pretty reliable, but I'd like to know if any recurring problems have been showing up.

Also, any plans to move the E-tec into a smaller package, I will probably need a new kicker soon as well. Thanks

The E-Tec's are doing Great with few if any problems, there are E-Tec's down to 40 HP now with smaller motors on the way. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Like Rusty states, very little problems with the V-6 ETEC's. If you take the ETEC and then the Verado, there is alot more that can go wrong with the Verado. I call it a over engineered outboard. Did you know that a old OMC engineer developed the Verado for Mercury? It was the same guy that developed the old OMC stringer sterndrive packages. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

I'd really like to see the 115 and 150 E-TEC available and not get the "two more weeks" deal.

What is his name?

He must be quite old as the OMC stirnger came out in about 1962 or so.

It was ment as a joke. The stringer is a fine example of a over engineered power system that works but could of been done much easier.
