Re: Suzuki 2-Stroke Oil (drfish)
I ran into the same problems with my 1991 150 SS when my local dealer stopped carrying it. I switched to Amsoil synthetic which is no problem for me because I have a distribution center where I live and can drive by and pick it up. It also is the same price as the Suzuki oil was. I would not use the snowmobile oil in it. They are different engines all together and the oils are not the same. Any oil that is TCW-3 rated will work and work fine in your engine and work well. I would just get some Quicksilver or Penzoil and call it good.
Re: Suzuki 2-Stroke Oil (TexSkeeter150)
I've heard nothing but good things about the amsol but I don't know if I have a distributor nearby. I'll probably just switch to the Quicksilver or Penzoil. I've always believed in using the same oil as much as possible and not switching or mixing oils. There all pretty decent quality anymore so the lack of change is probably as important as brand. I really didn't think the info about the snowmobile oil was on track either. They are formulated for totally different applications and operating temperatures.

Quicksilver or Penzoil will be fine and I agree about not switching brands all the time.

Texskeeter...When you switched to Amzoil did you drain your oil tank or have to adjust anything in your oil injection system? Just curious. I was thnking about switching.

I ran as low as I could then I pumped out the rest of the tank with a hand pump I bought at the local O'Reily's auto parts store. Then I just changed over to that Amsoil. You don't have to do this because the two oils will mix well, but I wanted to run straight synthetic as fast as I could.
Re: Suzuki 2-Stroke Oil (TexSkeeter150)
FYI...I ran Quicksilver Premium Plus in my old carbed Yamaha...Smoked like a frieght train, fouled plugs all the time, loaded up at idle real bad. Switched to Bomb XD50 (not that I'm endorsing it, just telling what I did) and it would hardly smoke at all, idled better and smoother, didn't load up anymore, and much less carbon on the prop and in the motor. I personally feel there is better stuff out there than Quicksilver after seeing that first hand. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
