High idle temperature on 150 Pro XS
This is a new motor with 10 hours on it. I did not notice any high temperatures last fall when idling. Now the motor is showing a high temperature of up to 160 degrees when idling in a no wake zone in 51 degree water. No high temperature alarms sound. On plane the temperature is around 85 degrees. Is the idle temperature normal?

Seems high. I was thinking 130ish was normal. May be a thermostat not opening..ask Don and see if he can help out.

I think that's normal. I run a 175 opti, and it will go 165 before it starts to fall.

Welcome to BBC! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Since this engine utilizes 143 degree thermostats, it's not abnormal to see 160-161 degrees at idle (especially under load).
However.... most will remain in the 135-155 degree range.
What is your current WATER PRESSURE at idle (preferably as indicated on a Smartcraft Instrument) when you're at this temperature?
When was the water pump replaced (in a fishing application- recommended ONCE PER YEAR, or every 100 HOURS, whichever occurs FIRST). http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: High idle temperature on 150 Pro XS (EuropeanAM)
Water temperature is 2-3 at idle and 15 at wot on Smart craft Instrument. This is a new motor with 10 hours on the engine and water pump. Seemed like the temperature was around 125 last fall when idling through a long no wake zone though I do not remember for sure. I believe the temperatures did remain in the 135-155 degree range most of the day so am relieved. Will take the boat out again next week and verify psi and temperatures.

Have you perhaps mixed up Water Pressure and Temperature above (I hope so)? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: High idle temperature on 150 Pro XS (EuropeanAM)
You are correct, water pressure is 2-3 at idle and 15 at wot. Temperatures are the higher numbers. I will keep a close watch the next time I am out, but am not quite as concerned based on your replies. Thanks to all for responding.
