rebuilt 1985 Mercury 150 XR2 No water out of the tale tale
I have rebuilt my 150, 1985 Mercury XR2. I am not getting any water out of the tale tale but plenty out of the exaust when i crank it. New Thermostats, New pump. and I have checked all hoses for trash. Water circulates through engine. Engine is not running hot at all. I have not changed the poppet valve. Could this be a problem?

if the hoses come off the t stat housings it will not pee till the tstats open , my 200 xri is like that. shows pressure on the gauge though.

+1.... The engine's telltale stream DOES come from the Thermostats.
Hence, until the thermostats OPEN, there will be little or NO water from the telltale stream.
When water IS present at the telltale- it will be HOT (don't put your hands in it). http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
