Could possibly be bad coil(s). Sounds about like what my old boat did with a bad coil.
Good Luck with the diagnosis!!!
I'd recommend you get the engine on the Computer Diagnostic System for:
-Printouts of the RUN HISTORY
-Printouts of the Freeze Frame (Fault) History
-Printouts of the Fault Seconds Counters
-Auto Self Test, Plugs OUT of cylinder head (with spark tester attached).
If one or more cylinders have no spark.... have the dealer reference SB 2009-026. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
That motor is famous for bad coils. I have the same motor and the good news is the new coils are good
I talked to my local merc dealer and they are saying the motor is in gaurdian mode and they won't know Anything else till its hooked up to the computer. Busy by chance what a set of coils cost?
warranty will cover it and mine went to guardian too. I am no expert but yours sure sounds like mine when I had the coil issue. If for some reason you are out of warranty, and I doubt that, Merc knows they have a problem with the coils and they should replace all six under the service bulletin
Mine is an 08 250 proxs and same thing just happened. Dealer replaced coils.
Mine is just out of warranty with 80 hrs on it now I hope I get lucky and they replace them
I am sure they will and keep us posted
Ill keep you all posted i appreciate the info. Its goes to the local merc shop tomorrow but they said they didnt know when they could get to it http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eyes.gif
Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long.
Be sure to obtain PRINTOUTS as I described above. I'm always happy to review them by email (if necessary). http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Ill see what i can get from them Don and get them sent to you. The dealer seemed a little resistant since its not the same boat brand today i just hope they do me right the nearest dealer with my boat is over 2hrs away http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eyes.gif

That's not good.... as Dealers, our contracts require that we service Mercury Products (including warranty service). Shouldn't make a difference what "brand" of boat it's bolted to. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Your exactly rigth on that Don. Hopefully they will get to it before the week the lot was empty when i dropped it off. If not ill be making the trek to another dealer saturday http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
