Any video or detailed instructions on changing spark plugs in Merc 250 pro xs

Any video or detailed instructions on changing spark plugs in Merc 250 pro xs in a 2010 modle? I heard its a little more complicated then normal, is there anywhere that had detailed instruction on video or with pictures?

Only thing I found compared to other motors I've had is that access is a little harder. You'll need to remove the lower cowling.

Remove with a plug socket and an extender. Gap the new plugs to .042 - .044. When replacing, put anti-sieze on the plug threads, push the plug tip into a short piece of tubing, and start by hand holding the other end of the tubing. Starting with the socket wrench in the cramped access, it wouldn't be hard to cross thread.

Torque the plugs to 20 ft lbs with a torgue wrench.

If you're forgetful like me, when you're done double check that all the plug wires are firmly attached - LOL!!.

I'll add that you will also need to make a mental note of how the wires are ran to ensure you don't have any rubbing anywhere. I only do 1 plug at a time but you can still route the wire different than it was originally. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

Don does Mercury have any comment on using Anti Seize on plug threads? The reason that I ask is that I have seen tech bulletins from plug manufactures over the years (most notably in our case from NGK) that Anti seize NOT be used on plug threads due to the risk of pulling the threads in aluminum heads or breaking the plugs. In my import auto repair business both Porsche and MB recommended that Anti Seize not be used.

No advisory AGAINST antiseize use has been issued... and it's use has actually been recommended on several (specific) engine designs. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

As stated above- proper plug torque is CRITICAL (20 ft. lbs in the case of Optimax Models, utilizing any of the "IZFR_ _" spark plugs).
