Re: Filter in Cowling (z71-z19)
Did he say what filter in the cowling? I have had the cowls off of the 2 PRO XS, I have owned many times & never saw a filter. I wonder what I have been missing? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif
Re: Filter in Cowling (howieranger)
Look inside your cowling shouldbe a metal plate that has twoscrews in it. There is an air filter in it.

The 225 ProXS DOES NOT HAVE AN AIR FILTER FOR THE COMPRESSOR.
If you remove the plastic cover from above the flywheel, there is what "appears" to be a plate that "might" have a filter under it. DO NOT REMOVE THE PLATE (there IS NO FILTER THERE, and removal of the plate will almost certainly destroy the cover).
There ARE two (2) return oil filters on the oil lines coming from the compressor, to the upper and lower crankshaft bearings. These filters should be replaced anytime compressor is replaced, or if oil leaks become apparent at the compressor (they MAY be restricted). http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: Filter in Cowling (EuropeanAM)

Re: Filter in Cowling (mikeva)
That explains why there was not one inthe socalled place for it. Who can i trust if icannot trust my mercury certified tech. I assume he was confused. Going to see what he placed in that spot.
Re: Filter in Cowling (EuropeanAM)
Where cani get those return filters? There is a very apparent oil leak around the top of compressor where the pully ismounted. I have almost 300 hours onthe motor. Is this normal?
Re: Filter in Cowling (z71-z19)
Any Mercury Dealer should be able to get them for you.... or you can order them through Sherm @ Sherm's Marine (or us).
Email or Phone are the BEST means of contacting the Parts Department(s). http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
