1998 225 Mariner Magum EFI 3.0L=need help please!
Motor has less than 100hrs, on take off it will not come up to full power. It feels like boat is trying to come out of hole at far less than even half power. No prop blow out, motor down all the way, idle is good and no load in boat. When it gets up it will run 70 +. It used to launch out of the hole, where do I start to find the porblem?

Are you comparing your recent experiences to cooler weather?
100 deg air and 80% humidity will rob power. I know it kills mine!

No, this is for sure a motor problem.

Start with the BASICS:
-Compression test
-SPARK TEST on ALL SIX CYLINDERS and inspect/replace plugs
-Fuel DELIVERY, Quality, and Pressure Tests
If problem not noted, continue to inspection/testing of:
-Reeds
-Exhaust Tuner (idle relief ports blocked)
-Various sensors (Coolant Temp, Intake Air Temp, TPS, MAP, etc)

Thanks for the info. Some I can do, others I will have to take to somebody as I would not be sure where these things are located on the motor. I may have to ask for further help. Thanks again.
