For questions relating to engine oil, please refer to your engine owner's manual, or the following post. Read and make your own personal choice.

Didn't mean to come across so rude/ arrogant. I've just seen this simple question turn into a three page bash before. I buy my own oil- just as I bought the motor it goes into. With motors being as expensive as they are to buy and maintain I try following advice from people in the know (Don) so maybe I won't have problems down the road. Again, JMO. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Talk to any engine mechanic and he will tell you that engine failures do to oil are rare especially brand differences. As long as the oil meets spec it is most likely OK to use. I have a 225 EFI and use Penzoil Premium Plus for some time now. I switched from the Merc oil. Both in my opinion are fine. Jim
Ive been runnin pennzoil xlf in all my out board for years without any oil related failures.Living on the puget sound the motors are run for long periods of times at high rpm.I ran my 225x with Simon ecu and flywheel for 40miles straight with rpms varrying from 7000-7500 and at most times it was 7500 in a race. There wasnt a time I went out the motor wasnt over 7000.It had 126psi on all 6 the day I purchased it to the day I sold it.Believe what you want and read into it what you want to read into all the test/oppinions.The ones I believe are the ones that stand to benifit nothing from what brand someone puchases.I like the sythetic blend of the pennzoil xlf myself.
I agree, I have been using the Pennzoil synthetic blend without issues.
The Pennzoil synthetic blend is an excellent oil, use it and save your money!
