2005 250 XS, smartcraft alarm/beep...fuel/trim level
hey don
we keep getting a constant beeeeeeep on my dads motor when trying to trim down/up and idle-ing...mercmonitor says FUEL level fault and Trim Level fault, but the instant you let OFF the trim the beep goes away, and if you hit clear on the mercmonitor, it doesn't come show any more alarms while running, until you set down and idle/trim again....

Monitor your battery voltage on the Smart Craft at time of alarm.
Sounds like you need more BATTERY!
Could also be "dirty" engine grounds.

sounds like battery problems to me too
Re: 2005 250 XS, smartcraft alarm/beep...fuel/trim level (low slung cruiser)
I suspect TWO (actually three) problems:
1. No fuel tank connected. Set Tank One to "Not Installed" if this is the case.
2. No Digital Trim Sensor Connected. Set trim to "not installed" (or off) if this is the case.
3. BATTERY OR CHARGING PROBLEM. Load test battery. For information on APPROPRIATE batteries for your engine, see:

Ensure battery terminals are CLEAN, ENGINE CABLE INSTALLED FIRST, remaining lugs LARGEST TO SMALLEST, and finish off connections with a STAINLESS LOCKNUT (do NOT use wing-nuts).
Also, check battery voltage AT BATTERY with engine running (at idle). If voltage does not climb to above 13.0V at idle after 5 minutes- you may have a charging system problem.
