DSLR Camera for the Wife....
Bought my wife a nice little point a shoot a year or so ago. Now she wants a DSLR. This isn't for a business or anything, and I'm not looking for a top of the line. This will be used for general pictures (everything from stills, to concerts, and son's ball games).
What differences are there between Nikon and Canon? Would we be happy with one of the packages you can buy that has a couple of lenses, bag, and frame for $700? I'd love to not spend more than that for now until I see that she really gets some use out of it and learns to use the features instead of just "auto" mode. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

I think either company would be great for her. One of the kits should be fine to start with also but there is no substitute for good glass. Also keep your eyes open on C/L and Fred Miranda for good used deals. Coop or one of the other guys can give you a lot more detailed info but that is just my opinion http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif

If you have access to a military base they had some outdated Nikon and Cannon on sale up to 50% off last week when I was there. They were going quick.

Check for refurbed camera packages. I got my Canon T1i with the 18-55 kit lens for less than my wife paid for her T1i body only. I got mine from Adorama- looked NIB and has worked great.
