Hey Arkansas!
I'm coming up to fish Dardanelle the weekend of the 18th. I have a map, but have heard rumors of people tearing stuff up running up there. Are these just rumors? Anything I should know (other than the obvious) so I don't tear anything up?

Stay within the bouys while running. Just because you see somebody tear off across the water out of the buoys, does not make it safe for you to do so. There are some areas that can be run, that require "needle threading" precision while doing so to avoid the stumps, rocks, ect that lurk just under the water. Amen to that Mark. Some of the bays you better know how to run or you will lose a lower unit.

WOW, I had no idea it was that bad. Glad I asked.
I occasionally run the Red River (in LA) and it's that way. If you get out of the channel, you might be running in a foot or two of water.

A lot of the Arkansas River is only inches deep out of the channel.

K. Short's a local as well. That place changes almost daily when flows are up.
Many places you just know better to run.
At Dardanelle you can be cruising along just fine, and run up on three submerged stumps out in the middle of nowhere. With the closest thing to a stick of wood anywhere near them being a half mile away on the bank.
The bow of that pink cat is in 8ft of water.

No need to be nervous - just make sure you're off plane when you get outside of the marked channel - or be following someone else with enough distance to stop before you hit what they did.

Dude, don't take the fact that the whole free world jokes that Arkansas is the epicenter for incestual toothless inbreeders out on me! Besides I was more talking about you and your brother/uncle/inlaw's banjo playing making me nervous more than anything.
