Just seeing this thread embarrasses me for your sake. I'm sorry the fishing has been so bad for you that you've sank to this new low.. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

I have a couple of Quantum ultralites the I use when wading creeks that have held up well for that.
That's what I use them for. Have two.
One has a Quantum XL?00S3 which used to be okay, but, I just drug it all off the back porch and it now seems the anti-reverse is pretty sloppy. (I'm sure it was always that way though.)
The other has a Quantum Energy PTi 10 on it. (Reel just not small enough).
D-shocks were the right size, but, loose anti-reverses.
BTW, WTF does "infinate anti reverse" mean anyway?
Well if i was usin your money,i would get a shimano stella fd. The 1000 series (the little bitty one) is 599.99 in bass pro.Well if your spending my money and want a really good real that's not to high, the shimano stradic fi is a really nice reel. i just bought 2 of them for my GLoomis ultra lite crappie poles and love them. If you want a good reel that will be trouble free, has the quick fire 2 casting system(the trigger that you grab at the same time as the line for 1 hand casting) and is very reasonable 59.99, the shimano spirex is a good reel. Oh, the stradics are 159.99. I also use the 3000 series because if you go with the little bitty ones the line twist is a lot worse. The stradics have some technoligy built in that reduces the line twist as well, and it really works!! http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

It means the bail will not turn back at all.The Spirex has a self centering bail that places the line at the top for quick casting which i really like. The infanite anti reverse the bail does not bring the line to the top by turning the handle backwards like a self centering bail. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Danny all the reels with infinate anti reverse will have no slack when setting the hook which is nice! The down side is the line will stop anywhere around the spool so you kinda have to watch at the last little bit of retreive and stop it at the top.The spirex does center the bail at the top by turning the handle slightly backwards till it stops. Thats the slack you will sometimes feel when setting the hook. It's kinda one of those deals where you can't have your cake and eat it to!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
The infinant anti reverse WILL put more fish in the boat and is a big plus after using it.The trigger casting is really nice for casting, but the slack durring hooksets can really suck at times.Danny as much as you like fishing do yourself a favor and check out the shimano stradic.I hated to spend that much on a spinning reel, but after useing it went and bought another one a week later. They are really smooth as glass, and very light in weight. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
I use these for creek fishing (wading), trout fishing, and crappie. I'll check out the Stradic.
Thanks Mike.
You might check out the shimano website as well. They have some really good descriptions of all the features on there as well that's very informative. They are also the farthest casting of any spinning reel i have used,do to the way they wrap the line and the shape of the spool. The 3000 also has a small frame with a larger than normal spool for a nice combo of casting vs weight. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Shimano is what I used to use before I got my quantum. 1/2 a season and the shimanos were worn smooth ass out. I have had the Quantum for close to 15 years now and it is still going strong.
Just my .02
best for the money would be an Pflueger President 750 size.....imo
