Tank under the cowling must be 100% full or you will get a warning.
Tank in the boat should never get below 50% to be safe. If you have a smartcraft system that monitors level in the boats tank, it will give you a warning as well @ 25%
Now, fill the tank in the boat, then start the motor on the muffs at home, and while it is idling, crack the cap open on the engine mounted tank until it fills and a little comes out, then shut it. Be careful, as the vap is very easy to damage on the engine mounted tank.
Keep running it on the muffs and check for leaks from the engine mounted tank, if there are any, get them fixed ASAP.
Clean up the mess and take her to the lake and see if you fixed the issue (bet you did).

One more thing to add:
On a new engine (or any engine of this type), you should NOT be seeing oil spills inside the cowling. If you do, you likely have a LEAK in the system (which should be addressed immediately). http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
