Bullet 17.5 1992

I am considering buying a 1992 bullet 17.5 w a yamaha 150. just wanted your 2cents...It has a hydrolic jack plate on it. The cavitation plate on the yami has a crack in it. The boat looks great for a 20 year old boat. A little wet sanding on the gelcoat and it will look new. There is a stress crack right in front of where the engine mounts on the boat where it slopes up towards the passenger side...is the common for these boats? Do the have a wooden transom? Are there any problems I need to consider? I figured you guys would know because you are Bullet owners. the asking price is 5000...I would appreciate your help...I have wanted one of these boats for a long time...

Yes the transome's are wood, up need to ck it out very carfully especially with the stress crack you describe!!

Yes wood transom. That price also seems a little high unless that's a very new model motor. I bought a 17V with a 150 Merc 11 years ago for $4500. But very fun and SQUIRRELY boats. Talk him down to $4000, sell the motor and get you a Mer and go through everything in the boat and you'll be pleased.

I worry about the stress crack...it does not seem to be all the way through buy you never know...? It looks new under the decks. Should I worry about the crack in the cavitation plate? are those small stress cracks common in th Bullets?
