Fuel leak

I have an 86 GT 150 and had the carbs rebuilt recently and noticed that fuel consuption was high and fuel slick at back of boat when I came to a stop, went into engine an replaced fuel and vacume lines fuel mileage improved but the slick still shows up. I never noticed it before and don't think its normal. Does anyone have any ideas on what happening or what can be done to fix the problem.

First thing I'd check is to make sure the high speed jets are seated in the carb bowls properly, pull the carb drain plugs off the carbs and use a thin blade screw driver and make sure they are snug in the bottom of the bowl seat NO SMOKING as fuel will be dumping out when you pull the drain screws. Next re-install the drain screws and pump up the bulb, be on the port side of the motor when you do this so you can also inspect the fuel tree as the bulb firms up you may have a slight crack in the tree and fuel can seep out. That is about all you can do without taking the carbs back off. Wash out the belly pan with H20 thouroughly to flush any Fuel out. CM http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/pimp2.gif
