Ideal setback and prop height?
Seems like there has been a lot of discussion about setback and prop height lately, so here is my question for the "experts"---I run a 20XDC and 225 EFI with a stock LU. Props are 26's to 28"s. What would be the ideal setback? I am running 12". Also best guess at ideal prop height for the stock lower. I was running around 1-7/8" but may try 1-1/2". Keep in mind this boat will not see 80 mph. Thanks. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/popcorn.gif

Just curious as to why this boat wont see 80 mph? You should be running at least low 80's with that set up. Sounds like your prop shaft height is going to be pretty close, may take some fine tuning one way or another as to what you want out of the rig.

Marty, he runs small lakes and wants a great holeshot, great acceleration and dont care if it ever sees 80.... Top end is not his goal. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

Thanks Mike and Marty. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif So do you think I should leave it at 12 or go to 14? Also, leave the height at say 1-3/4 or lift to 1-1/2? Again, Mike is right, looking more for hole shot, ripping midrange and good handling. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: Ideal setback and prop height? (RG-IN-NH)
If you are wanting holeshot, leave it at 12. It will give you a little better holeshot than the 14. On the height of the engine, You may just have to play with it to see how your props like to come out of the hole at the different heights.

i got some real good holeshot out of my 20xd on small lakes at 1/2 below the pad. if you can try an 8in or 10in setback you might get a little more, but 12 is going to be better than 14. just my 2cents! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
